Africa to host 1st Female-led Blockchain Hackathon
Women in Blockchain Africa is hosting its first-ever Female-Led Blockchain Hackathon, themed “Web3 & Blockchain for Inclusive Growth: Building Future-Proof Solutions.”
The event is a 2-week hack from November 25th to December 9th, 2023, set to harness the power of blockchain and Web3 technology to solve real-world problems and drive positive change.
The hackathon is a power-packed event that will bring together a diverse audience of over:
- Over 10 esteemed mentors representing various industries
- Developers, founders, creators and entrepreneurs from the African blockchain and Web3 community
- African Women entrepreneurs and startup founders who are interested in integrating blockchain technology into their ventures or building blockchain-based startups
- Experienced professionals, mentors, and experts in the blockchain field
- Students and Researchers interested in blockchain technology
- Industry professionals thought leaders and representatives from blockchain organizations to participate as speakers, judges, or mentors

Eligibility for participation
- Form a team with a minimum of 2 hackers and a maximum of 6
- Each team must be led by a female
- Each individual must register to participate.
About the hackathon
The Hackathon is our first annual hackathon dedicated to empowering women’s participation in developing blockchain solutions and startups. With a focus on promoting UN Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 8, 9, and 10, the event aims to foster inclusive growth and social impact.
The hackathon will unite hackers from over 5 African nations, including entrepreneurs, startup founders, blockchain enthusiasts and professionals.
About Women in Blockchain Africa (WiBA)
Women in Blockchain Africa(WiBA) is an awareness platform for budding young girls and women in blockchain technologies so that they can become future problem solvers and leaders across Africa.
WiBA envisions a future where women are empowered to become the drivers of blockchain solutions across Africa.
Its mission is to raise 2 million female blockchain talents in Africa within the next 10 years and prepare them to become participants, contributors and delegates in the blockchain space.
