In just four months, MILESTONE | Noones P2P Bitcoin Platform for the Global South has crossed 400K users.
The CEO of Noones, a financial communication app that aims to integrate the Global South into the global financial systems, is Ray Youssef, the former CEO of Paxful, the top P2P platform in Africa.
Youssef’s appointment also marks the “official launch” of the Noones app, which the platform reports has quickly amassed over 400,000 users globally in less than four months of operation.
The platform, according to the team, enables users to transfer money freely and quickly, avoiding the difficulties and hold-ups that are frequently connected to traditional banking and financial institutions.
Its core business tenet is the belief that peer-to-peer networks constitute the only authentic free markets on Earth, and that Bitcoin represents the new global financial architecture that has the potential to improve the lives of people in Southeast Asia, Africa, and
Noones’ primary markets thus far include:
- Nigeria
- Ghana
- Cameroon
- India, and
- The Philippines
In less than four months of operation, the platform has over 400,000 users worldwide and turned a profit.
The Noones app, which can be found on the Google Store, consists of three primary parts:
- A marketplace where users from 190 countries can buy or sell Bitcoin and stable coins with over 400 payment methods available (including gift cards, mobile money, bank transfers and other cryptocurrencies.
- A wallet which acts as a store of value
- A messenger where the majority of peer-to-peer trades take place
“Building an interoperable Pan-African clearing layer will be our first major objective. With it, intra-African trade will rise from single digits to levels comparable with intra-European trade. The potential for Noones to become a trillion dollar company in Africa alone is enormous, but the possibilities are endless when considering the rest of the Global South, according to Ray Youssef.
“Meanwhile, money was not really disrupted by the internet, cellphones, or a wave of disruptive startups. At Noones, we think the best course of action is to finish Bitcoin. The people are being empowered in ways never seen before by new financial tools that are opening up unheard-of, limitless opportunities.
In the meantime, Paxful, the peer-to-peer (P2P) Bitcoin (BTC) trading platform, returned online in March 2023 under new management, despite reportedly facing financial difficulties, following a brief suspension of its marketplace operations in April 2023.
