FlexID, a Zimbabwean identity startup, introduces FlexPay, a P2P service powered by WhatsApp, on Algorland.
By connecting their bank account or debit card to the wallet, users, according to FlexID, can quickly send and receive money, pay bills, make purchases, and access extra services like investment options and budget management tools, all from the WhatsApp interface. The wallet’s connection to the Algorand blockchain also opens up a wide range of cryptocurrency possibilities, including the ability to generate or use Algo/USDC Voucher codes.
A blockchain identification business from Zimbabwe called FlexID has launched FlexPay, a P2P service, on the Algorand blockchain mainnet.
The goal of FlexID is to develop a platform for autonomous identity management. FlexID is leading a digital identity network to address the issue of numerous undocumented impoverished people in several regions of Africa.
According to the firm, it is creating a decentralized marketplace for people. Each individual in this market is viewed as an API (application programming interface) via which they can interact with a variety of services, with financial services playing a crucial role.
Previously, the startup raised money using the Algorand blockchain. An estimated 400 million people in Africa lack identification, which makes it difficult for them to access basic services like banking.
Victor Mapunga, the founder of FlexID, claims:
“Identity is the cornerstone of contemporary trade. Without an ID, it is impossible to engage in the economy, even at the most fundamental levels, such as having access to mobile money, banking, and basic telco services.
“Access to healthcare and education becomes incredibly challenging without an ID. However, the chaotic national records raise the expense of doing business much more. Even the informal sector can change from an isolated viewpoint to a formalized economy using FlexID. Credit and inputs are easily accessible to farmers.
The company stated during the Algorand raise that it would be growing its offering on the Algorand blockchain, and it now appears that this is the case with FlexPay.
Right now, users don’t require a different app or website to access their wallet; it can be done immediately from the WhatsApp interface. Users, especially those who might not be technologically skilled, can save time and effort by doing this.
According to the business’ website, “Our wallet offers users a seamless and convenient way to manage their finances directly from their mobile device, even for those who are new to digital wallets or have limited access to the internet.”
